Taiwanese Tying the Knot in Japan

Sponge Bear flipped me this great article on Taiwanese who are choosing to get married in Japan with a traditional Shinto wedding.

In Taipei, Tenfull Travel Service, currently the only agency there to organize weddings in Japan, has sent six couples to either Western-style churches in snowy Hokkaido or traditional shrines in sunny Okinawa since it tapped into the business last March.

Project manager Lee Chong-ping recalled that his team did it purely for pleasure when they were first asked to work out a package for a Japanese expatriate who married a Taiwanese woman and wanted to hold the wedding in Hokkaido.

Soon after, the story was made public in the company's pamphlet and his employees began to be bombarded with a flood of phone calls and e-mails inquiring about the idea.

"Some of them said they have already gone through a traditional wedding but wish to hold a special one regardless of the price," Lee said.
