I'd like to add two 20th Century works to your list:

Edwards, Jack. "Banzai You Bastards!" Corporate Communications: Hong Kong, 1990 and Rutter, Owen. "Through Formosa: An Account of Japan's Island Colony." T. Fisher Unwin, Ltd.: 1923.

Mr. Edwards spent three years in a POW camp in Jiufen (near Taipei) during World War II. He passed away last year.
