Taichung Mayor Hu's Wife severely injured in auto accident

Local media is reporting that a car struck a vehicle carrying Taichung Mayor Hu and his wife. Apparently the wife was pulled from her vehicle by the accident, and the car dragged by her arm for some distance. She is now in critical condition, and the media is reporting the arm will have to come off. Very, very sad. Mayor Hu escaped serious injury.

It was told that the car accident that caused Wu Shu-Chen (CSB's wife) to paralyze happened in the same day 27 years ago, in the same place (Tainan)...

Maybe this is a splendid opportunity for the Taichung Province authorities to crack down on some absolutely hideous driving?

Nah, it'll never happen... Traffic attitudes are just too deeply ingrained. Even a foreingo like myself immediately adopts Taiwanese-style driving, which will probably cost my any potential driving licences in Canada or any place that is not Taiwan.

I know it's their standard operating procedure, but I was disgusted by how the mayor's wife's blood-soaked body was just splashed all over Apple Daily's front page.

I buy Apple Daily once in a while. I know their medical reporters and they are some of the most tenacious and thorough in the business. But not when they have a cover like this that just turns my stomach.
