AIT Hosts Free Flicks

Had a good time at The Shannon on the 12th, thanks to all the new faces for coming out....hope to see more of you next time. Jerome Keating sent this around about AIT's film programs

To all,

Those that were there at Shannon's enjoyed Franc X. Shelton's informative presentation on the challenges and roles of AIT in Taiwan along with a taste of what life in the foreign service entails. (We should also recommend to all American friends that they be registered with AIT)

I want to take this opportunity to also mention that AIT has a series of free films on a variety of topics involving life in America.

The next film is on May 25, 2007, at 6:30 in the AIT offices at Rm 2101, 21F, 333 Keelung Road, Section 1.

The title of the film is "Good Night, and Good Luck"

Synopsis: In the early 1950s, the threat of Communism created an air of paranoia in the United States and exploiting those fears was Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin. However, CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow and his producer Fred W. Friendly decided to take a stand and challenge McCarthy and expose him for the fear monger he was. However, their actions took a great personal toll on both men, but they stood by their convictions and helped to bring down one of the most controversial senators in American history.

You can reserve a seat on the website http://www.ait.org.tw

I have seen it before and recommend it.
Oh yes, they also provide fre popcorn and soft drinks.

Jerome

I planned to go, but didn't get up in time. I have to get up pretty early to get there from Beitou, and Saturday is my day off, so it is difficult convincing my unconsciousness to get moving. I'll try harder next time.
