Ta-Ken Trail Number 6

I took the family up Trail Number 6 in Ta-ken Scenic Area today. Actually, I should be using verbs like goaded and drove instead of took, because Trail 6 is a corker. It is 1.6 km, and all of it is stairs, either up or down.

The trail takes you up to the top of the ridge quite rapidly, 300 meters of stair climbing.

Taking a rest.

The really nifty thing about this trail is that once you are on the ridge, you can simultaneously see Taiping, Taichung, and Tanzi on one side, and then on the other, look out over Hsinshe and the mountains around it. The views are excellent.

The trail is shaded the whole way.

Trail 6 ends at the temple right next to the Wind-Moving Stone that is the terminus of Trails 7 and 8. The temple offers water and toilets, and a few vendors selling fruit and snacks. We took Trail 7 down for a total round trip of 3 km. A lot of hard climbing on the way up!
