Is investment in the PRC a bad idea?

Taiwan News reports on a forum on investment in the PRC:

Scholars and experts warned Taiwanese investors and businesses about the credibility of China's official statistics regarding economic growth, at a forum held yesterday by the Chung-Hua Institute for Economic Research.

The forum drew upon the knowledge of participants such as associate professor from the Drexel University in Philadelphia, Xie Frank Tian, People First Party Legislator Christina Liu, American scholar-businessman Ethan Gutmann, and researchers from the institute.

I don't think so. according to that book named The China dream , investors should choose a enterpris which doesn't compete with the public-sector in the same industry. Some of my clients keep investing real estates in Shainghei and still making money.
Both oppertunities and trapes exist in this ancient country.
