185 Warehouse Bike Shop in Ta-ken

UPDATE: Sorry to intrude here for those of you interested in 185 Warehouse. But many of you are coming here because of race-cycles. If you're not, just scroll down...

....it might be construed as public insult to speak truth here. So I will simply note that James Murray does not work for this company, that is not him in the picture on the current About page (page imaged Jan 23rd, 2015), but me with his name under my photo, and the firm is not HQed at that address in Taichung, but 185 Warehouse is. Poor James, to have my photo replace his. That's just insult on top of injury. Meanwhile, back to 185....

I stopped by the gorgeous new 185 Warehouse bicycle shop in Ta-ken today to check the place out. The shop is managed by a friendly and knowledgeable local expat, James Murray. Here's how he described it on Forumosa recently:
Our new cycling concept store, Warehouse 185 in Taichung is currently the largest in Taiwan in terms of square footage. My goal is for it to be the most comprehensive in terms of brands and products carried as well. We're off to a pretty good start with Scott, Cannondale, Colnago, Pinarello, Jango, G2C, Slideaway, SRAM, Rockshox, Avid, Truvativ, Shimano, FSA, Vision, PRO, Fox, Selle Royal, Fizik, Tektro, Brooks, Campagnolo, Mavic, Crank Brothers, Easton, KMC, Park Tool, Camelbak, Topeak, Sigma, Xpedo, AmainT, Ergon, Allay, Coolstop, Dema, Stan's, Jagwire, SR Suntour, Kenda, Maxxis, CST, Continental, Pearl Izumi, North Wave, Cratoni and Elite. We are a fully trained and accredited SRAM, Rockshox, Truvativ and Avid systems service, repair and maintenance center and also a trained and accredited Shimano OSP technical center. We also have a comprehensive professional fitting equipment and services from Juteau-Cantin. I'm in the process of signing up more IBD type boutique and niche market brands and products and we'll have more stuff like that in the store in the coming months as well as maybe some big name brands like Orbea, Kuota, Argon18, Cinelli and perhaps Specialized.
James has been in the bike business for 9 years here on The Beautiful Island, and has the contacts to get virtually anything you might need, he says.

The shop is located here, on 129 between the popular eastern Taichung city routes up 129 to Hsinshe and down 129 to 136 and over "The Fence" to Puli and places further south. There is a park next door. Very convenient when you're coming back from a ride into the mountains to the east of the city!

There are a couple of floors of bikes.....

...road bikes, mountain bikes, folding bikes....

....equipment and accessories....

...and parts and components from some of the biggest names in the business.

They will also have a coffee shop....

...and plenty of secure spaces to park your bike out front.

I can see I'll be chillin' out here quite a bit in the future! Hope to see you on a bike soon!

I will be in Taipei in September and wanted to buy a road bike such as Giant Defy Advanced 1 or Giant TCR Advanced 1 or Focus izalco pro 3.0 or Cervelo R3 Ultegra. Would also gladly buy a used bike as well if price and quality and condition were excellent.

I love this store... I stop by here at least 2 a month just to look around and see what's new. Recently, I came by on my bike to get a quick repair from a nasty fall in the nearby hills... Great staff and very friendly...
