Various pro-Taiwan groups are putting together a rally for the first 100 days of the Ma Administration on Aug 30, Saturday. The rally starts at 3 in the afternoon from either of 2 locations:
◎東區:台北市忠孝東路頂好商場 (East: Chunghsiao E. Rd, the Dinghao Commercial Square right next to SOGO)
◎西區:台北市龍山寺前廣場 (West: Lungshan Temple)
The two then march to Ketegalen Rd in front of the Presidential office where they gather at 4:30. The event ends at 7:30.
FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT: In Sick Around the World, Frontline looks at 5 capitalist democracies and how their health insurance programs work. Of course Taiwan is right there....

RE: Frontline
Good to hear Taiwan being called "a nation" and "a country" multiple times on this program.
The bedside manner and level of care in Taiwan is hit and miss, IMO. This intangible but highly important quality was something not really talked about in this program. It's not just about efficiency and money. Competency of the medical staff and the human factor should always be considered when rating systems.

Congratulations on reaching 3000! You do an invaluable job .. thank you.
Michael, you do a great service to the uninformed who reside outside of Taiwan. I know your heart and the words you present are honest and chosen with respect. You have many readers who will never write to thank you. Here's a card from the first 100 too busy to write with congratulations on the 3000th!
Michael - on the 3K, congrats man. You are a guiding light.
The progressives in Taiwan should be paying you a stipend (NT$200K mo ~ secret slush $) because you contribute such a valuable service to promote Taiwan's cause in the western media.
Keep up the excellent work!

Um, Michael, you don't mention what the point of the rally is - just that pro-Taiwan groups are putting it on. Or is there even a point?
Good work, thanks for running one of the few sites that has compelled me to de-lurk.
Congrats on the 3000th post. I'll try and get to the rally at Zhongxiao E. Rd and shoot a few pics. Got to be somewhere around 5.30 or so, but have time to shoot some stuff before.
