Just last week I was warm....

Dear Taipei:

Good news! We've found your lost weather. It's in Taichung. Come and get it whenever you have a moment.

Thanks,
Taichung

Should have stayed in the US, where it is the 4th warmest winter ever. Instead we have Taipei weather all over the island through tomorrow...... take back your weather, Taipei!

In the meantime just curl up with the blogs.... and with this commentary in the TT today about beef:
If the government now simply opens up the market to US beef, Taiwan will have to reduce the amount imported from Australia and New Zealand, unless perhaps one thinks the public are suddenly going to eat a whole lot more beef. Furthermore, under WTO regulations, as soon as we allow the import of beef containing residues of this additive, we will also be relinquishing the right to implement safeguards in the interest of public health, per the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) of the WTO’s Multilateral Agreements on Trade in Goods. If that happens, the ban would also be lifted on imports of chicken and pork with residues.
Interesting new information....

what i don't get is why Taiwan doesn't just import organic beef, or at least beef that's certified to he artificial additive-free. thanks for the mention today.

But if we did that we'd have to go to Taichung, and you guys don't have an MRT and the roads are too congested.

Then again, as beautifully metaphorical as it is I'm a bit sick of Taipei's cold rain.

I don’t know about that article about changing social norms. Nearly half of it is about seniors getting conned out of their savings or otherwise abused, and I promise my generation hasn’t turned that into a new social norm.
