Former President Chen Shui-bian was taken into custody by the Special Investigations Unit today, as many had predicted. More details tomorrow as the story is clarified.
Does this mean that the sweep of "corrupt politicians" has begun and greaseballs from both camps will be going down in the next week or so? Or do we find out tomorrow that the KMT golden boys have never sinned and anyone who suggest otherwise gets their blog shut down? Oops, sorry dude. I'm sure it doesn't mean that at all. Nothing to see here. Move along.
I like how every opportunity was taken by the authorities to be as public as possible so the news media could all get the pictures under the headlines.
I used to have my doubts, but now I am totally convinced... these recent arrests for "corruption" are entirely political. The only person I can think of who gets it worse might be Anwar Ibrahim in Indonesia. It is only a matter of time before the KMT starts prosecuting DPP officials for sodomy.
I find it funny that KMT guys are all given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to go free on bail (and then flee to China).
And then... if the KMT really wanted to bring criminals to justice.. why don't they ask their buddies in China to extradite all those KMT baddies it is harboring?
So CSB couldn't deliver TI during his 8 year presidency when the Taiwan military was supposed to be following his orders but now, as an ex-president sitting in jail with the Taiwan military and intelligence agencies openly hostile to him, he will bring TI forthwith. TIers will believe anything.
1. Better late than never?... 2. If they have the chutzpah to (re-)arrest a former president... then the situation for the average 王大中 doesn't look good.
The timing seems suspect because of the other recent arrests and commotion; this wouldn't have riled many people up if it had happened a few weeks ago, and I doubt they just found the evidence they needed this week.
Because of that, he's back to being a martyr. In the long run that's bad for the DPP because any publicity they get because of CSB is bad publicity in the eyes of the unaligned Taiwanese that both parties are trying to win over. Canny move. And what a disaster this whole thing has been for the independence movement. Our depression just gets deeper and deeper.
I don't really care if A-bian, his wife, his "independently" wealthy son and DIL are arrested or jailed or not. The government can even let them slip out of the country to hide in China for the rest of their lives. All I care about is: A-Bian~~ just show me the TI money!!!!
The man got caught red handed and there are still those that link his bad character to the KMT by saying those bad boys should be prosectuted to.
Chen Lovers amaze me. Chen shui bian had 8 years to prosecute a KMT official and could not (negating the minows). Then they even tried to manufacture charges against Ma and lost.
Face it losers, The KMT have redemed themselves while the DPP was running around stealing everything from everyone they "thought" they could get away with.
"there are still those that link his bad character to the KMT by saying those bad boys should be prosectuted to."
So you are saying corrupt KMT officials should not be brought to justice and that it is ok to carry out an anti-corruption campaign selectively for political purposes?
"The KMT have redemed themselves"
Saying it's so won't make it so. Recent polls would disagree with you. I put more faith in them.
woho, Trace, you need to your facts straight before you start calling others losers.
By the way, KMT lovers amaze me as well. KMT redeem themselves? Where are their corrupted officials still hiding in China, UK and USA? Why don't they come back and face the law? And what happened to the La Fayette case? You didn't know the KMT has a lot of influence in the justice system of Taiwan?
By the way, you know what KMT stands for? It stands for "Kiss My T*****le." (or Chinese National Party...yep, they should be in China, not Taiwan).

Looks like good timing for the KMT. "Hey look, he's your former DPP president now being detained on corruption charges."
Two thoughts:
1. Better late than never?...
2. If they have the chutzpah to (re-)arrest a former president... then the situation for the average 王大中 doesn't look good.
I love Chinese internet henchmen paid to leave anti-taiwan comment on the internet.
Dumbass, you gave yourself away with "TI" - only Chinamen says that.
Go back behind your great firewall!

I love TI trolls. They're at about the same level as pro-China trolls. Love them all, don't we?

As usual, you are full of it.
