FAPA Ad in WaPo

The Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA), the most important advocate of Taiwan in the US, recently had an ad on the referendum and UN entry in the Washington Post. The ad is shown above, for a clearer look, there's this link to PDF of the ad. The ad links to this information page on Taiwan. Way to go, FAPA!

In something totally awful and completely unrelated, I'd like to take a moment to extend my heartfelt sympathies to the people of Korea. Apparently some nutcase burnt down the Sungnyemun Gate in Seoul, perhaps that nation's most important and beloved historical monument. Built in the 1390s, it had been the subject of innumerable photos and essays on the contrast between the ornate, ancient gate and the skyscrapers that had sprung up about it.

As long as their quoting George "chuckle-nuts" Bush, here's a few other quips that didn't make the poster. And may I add, these are a tad more truthful.

"Let me put it this way. Money trumps...umm...peace sometimes."

"This would be a whole lot easier if this was a dictatorship...just as long as I'm the dictator!"

I must say though, that 2004 inaugural was quite a knee-slapper.

Sorry to be off topic.
Just read this article about a new documentary movie about sharks.
Apparently an 'international Taiwanese crime ring' controls the shark fin trade.
Could be some bad publicity for Taiwan....but much needed publicity for the world's sharks.

Thanks, Macca. I'll be blogging shortly. Sometimes it seems like if something sordid is going on in Asia, it's center is always here.

It's a noble cause, but.... in all honesty, it should state that 51% the people of Taiwan have a dream. As we all know (and has been proven over and over again), the 49% Keep Marginalizing Taiwan group could care less about a free Taiwan. They are content to have a Singapore type puppet dictatorship and being the ass monkeys of the PRC.
