Fanapi maps and info. Gusts up to 200 kms an hour. Ouch!
UPDATE: Well, it's noon, and Fanapi seems to have fizzled here in The Chung. On the east side of city I'm not getting any rain and the wind is negligible. At present, it looks as if all you who were hoping for a day off tomorrow better get ready for work.
Downed tree in the neighborhood. This was the only serious damage I saw when I went into town to the market, which was open, though not heavily trafficked.
Northern Taichung under Fanapi.

The wind is extremely strong here in my location in Taichung County.
The CWB website says it's gusting to 34.5 m/s (124 km/h).
This cartoon can help you determine wind speeds of your neighborhood: http://www.howtoons.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/beaufortscale.png
hey, just wondering which part/area of Taichung you live in. I live in between Dali and Taichung City but I'm looking to move soon as I'd like to be closer to the mountains/Daken perhaps... email is russell.sancto(at)gmail.com
At now 10am local time it has actually calmed down a little here in Taichung City. Is this the eye? ;)
we got diddly squat in Hsinchu. people are out walking their dogs.
Tunghai cancelled classes for tomorrow. I'm not really sure why, and I hate the fact that we're going to have to make it up on a Saturday down the road...
Now I found out why--evidently a lot of students are from southern Taiwan and went home for the weekend.
