I wish you didn't link to blogs that turn their comments off. Taoyuan Nights provides no numbers whatsoever. It's all about numbers. If the proportion of companies with moats in Taiwan is high (for high-tech industries, it is rather high), or rather, if it is high enough, then sure, bad effects that he mentioned that actually make sense will happen but it will be evened out by the good effects. Also, why is seeing some guys with souped up cars good evidence that there is a lurking consumer lending crisis? How about some bankruptcy rates? Kinda ridiculous speculation all over.
The conventional wisdom is Taiwan's economy will be doing pretty well for the coming year because the US economy is also going to be doing well.
Let me add a ditto to the comment about Taoyuan Nights. Not about the lack of comments, but about half-assed proclamations based on a handful of cherry-picked examples. Housing prices in Taipei are high, therefore everybody everywhere is screwed.
