The Cabinet-level Department of Health said yesterday that it is soliciting 100,000 volunteers to educate the public on how to prevent avian flu.
Shih Wen-yi (施文儀), deputy director of the DOH's Center for Disease Control, said the new project will start with 25 community universities around the country to deepen anti-bird flu education.
To prevent an avian flu outbreak in Taiwan, the CDC is working out strategies to strengthen quarantine measures on people and goods entering the island, medical care systems and community anti-bird flu education, Shih said, expressing hope that more people will join the campaign to promote anti-bird flu knowledge.
