Some links....
- On the anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's death, Ma Ying-jeou leads Chinese tourists in cheering "long live the ROC". Ma has denied causing KMT loss in 2014 and 2016. LOL.
- India puts Taiwan on table, uncowed by China
- Polling for KMT race from TVBS: From Solidaritytw: KMT race tight -- Hau 20%, Wu 17%, Hung 13%, Chan 10%, Han 9%, Pan 2% Don’t Know 29% among self-reported members. Interestingly, KMT members are optimistic about the future of the KMT.
- Right on Green Island, an oil spill. Origin currently unknown. Damn. Images on Facebook. Maybe the EPA will fine them... $3000 NT or something.
- On Twitter we were having a good laugh about this Reuters piece in which China openly says --- as it always has -- that China investment in Taiwan is for annexation of the island. Remember in the run-up to ECFA how it was possible to write a whole piece on ECFA in the major media without ever mentioning that it was for annexation of Taiwan?
- Explaining the problem behind Indigenous land protests. Excellent piece from Ketagalen.
- Trump gets 38 trademarks approved in China. LOL. Qz.com had good piece on how his family actually has over 100 trademarks in China.
- Presidency opens a southern office.
- Taiwan aims for 20% renewables.
- As part of the Administration's increasingly successful Go South policy, it is promoting halal restaurants, and Taiwan has over 100. While the US stupidly turns away tourists, we're attracting them.
- James Baron, who writes beautifully, writes on Li Kuo-ting, often considered an architect of Taiwan's econ development.
- Remembering 2-28 across time. Sometimes I want the Taiwanese to remember that every day is 2-28 for the aborigines.
- The Economist argues that the one China policy is on its last legs. It even says the policy has kept the peace in Asia. Haha. Only two things have prevented a regional war: the presence of the US military, and China's lack of a navy. Now both are being ramped up. Good-bye, peace. Meanwhile, can we stop saying that the peace was kept in Asia? The Vietnamese, Koreans, Indians, Cambodians, and many others might have something to say about that.
- Cheaper to make clothes in Taiwan than in India
- Chinese student arrested in espionage case too.
- Reuters actually says that Taiwan doesn't want to be ruled by China. Wow. So difficult to get them to say that out loud.

I love that "don't know" takes a higher percentage than any named candidate. Considering how many people assumed Hau was washed-up after losing that race (in Keelung, was it?), and that Hung had a better chance, it's also interesting that Hung is behind both Hau *and* Wu, and I feel like Wu is the very definition of "has-been".
