Out and about in Changhua and Taichung, photo'd lots of signs for the party primaries. Click on read more to...
This guy is my favorite, running for County Chief. "In the future you'll see me! Look at the new hope!" his sign proclaims. It's a good thing these guys aren't egotistical or anything.
The usual small signs.
Lots of female candidates, as always.
A DPP candidate's truck. Her platform is love and family.
Several DPP candidates occupy a large space in Changhua near the confluence of the 1 and Alternate 1, as they do every election.
Candidate ads seldom have concrete policies.
DPP presidential possibility Tsai Ing-wen is on several signs I saw. I didn't see any with Chairman Su. Not a big enough sample to draw conclusions from.
This candidate's ad says he has a PHD from National Taiwan U. This sort of claim is common on candidate signs.
This ad is for Eric Chu, who is the New Taipei City Mayor. The ad was in Changhua City. Note its use of green and black, as if Chu were a pan-Green candidate instead of the KMT candidate.
Several of these guys were KMT. Who didn't you see? No Ma Ying-jeou. I doubt Ma will be appearing on many campaign posters this election...

Nothing inspires me like a shitty night market polo shirt and a clenched first. Are you already seeing an effort on the part of KMT candidates to conceal their party affiliation this time around?
ReplyDeleteAlso, no one seems to be talking about how all the fun currently going on up in Taipei is going to affect turnout. If the DPP's smart it will work just as hard to rally the youth vote as they do in trying to get the traditional base out.
"Wankers. Faarsands of them..."

ReplyDeleteHope and Change. It's the wave of the future. At least this guy doesn't have his chin way up in the air with his eyes looking down on his audience.
Thought DPP has worked hard reaping the benefits. Well, in the midst of the storm, one can only take one day at a time.
ReplyDeleteLet's create real campaign slogans!
ReplyDeleteHere's a few I thought of:
CHANGE you cannot possibly believe in!
HOPE you don't get killed!
I LOVE (power and money)
VOTE FOR ME! (We know where you live)
Just saw a doozy of a poster in Tucheng -- the candidate (KMT? DPP?) and Obama; English caption "We both want change"
