Following on from your observation of the neo-realist soviet style ad campaign currently being run by 7-11, it appears that Rock Taichung is similarly afflicted ... check out the main screen logo:

Wu Den-yih; What a terrible choice.
ReplyDeleteReplace one premier who couldn't get anything done with another. Wu was a terrible mayor in Kaohsiung, who did absolutely nothing for the city during his 8 years in power; other than line the pockets of his buddies with cash of course. Don't think the DPP could have chosen a better man to further sink Ma's boat.
AP, not really Wall Street Journal, which I couldn't believe would be so fast on this. "Skilled political maneuverer"? Yeah, what they really meant is arrogant partisan.
ReplyDeleteHere's how it works: Beijing tells the international wire services to write nice things about Ma and the KMT - if they want to keep their China bureaus open.
ReplyDeleteWu Den-yih is just another pawn in the KMT elite.
ReplyDeleteHe will be disposed of in no time in preparation for former Taoyuan Mayor Zu-Li Lun as Premier in waiting, and then subsequently the chosen candidate for the Vice-Presidency in time for the next election.
If it all goes well, Taiwan should expect another son of from the influential KMT-Mainland faction claiming the presidency after Ma.

ReplyDeleteIt makes sense. When I was young the rock groups tried to subtly identify themselves with Germany (remember the "rock dots") the most recent evil empire to have been defeated. It makes sense that the current crop of rockers would want to identify with a more recent powerful genocidal regime.
