Future Government Sign

Out walking, my friend Sponge Bear discovers this sign...."furuton," he explains, is a local rendering of the old Japanese name for Fengyuan...

  1. Does "Furuton" rhyme with "Turton"?

  2. That's a great pic. I wonder what it means? Does it predate Chiang Kai-shek when Taiwan was still known as Formosa? If so, why would the island be considered a province instead of something like "colonial possession"? I am assuming you took the shot in Taichung. What sort of insight did the sign's owner give you? I would be interested to know. Once again, great sign!

  3. I think it is a pro-TI sign. Whatever it comes from, it's great.

  4. Sorry, but what does "pro-TI" mean?
