You finally broke me, Michael; you choose a subject that impels me to post my first-ever blog comment: I am thrilled to discover that you're a Tigers fan. Yes!!! Restore the Roar!... October, 1968, the seventh game (afternoon, as all Series games were then): our teacher (fifth grade) wheeled in a TV for the last three innings. Still 0-0, Gibson and Lolich both still pitching, two outs in the top of the eighth. Cash singles. Horton singles, too. And then Curt Flood slips trying to catch up to Northrup's line drive. Both runners score on the triple, and next-up Freehan doubles Northrup home. Tigers win 4-1 against the single-season most dominant pitcher in major-league history. And don't even get me started on '84! May we have the Tigers and the Cards again. It beats an NY subway Series hands down.

A year ago, Kenny Rogers was the biggest jerk in baseball for shoving a cameraman, while many observers thought the Tigers had overpaid for damaged goods in Magglio Ordonez. What a difference a year makes! Go Tigers!

There are times I find sports incredibly tedious and just can't get into following them at all. And it boggles my mind that people actually watch golf on TV, or even more unimaginable, go to tournaments and stand around in the gallery. Rico Petrocelli was a great player.
