There was a brief vogue of prostitution in 1990s, child prostitution, as well, using underage betel nut girls. That was cleaned up fairly quickly. Prostitution still goes on, but the local papers all say that the sucess of internet prostitution -- more lucrative and safer for the women -- has cut into the other forms of prostitution. Of course there is plenty of harassment going on. In the central and south at some stands if you pay the girl extra she'll flash her boobs at you.
