General Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff with the People's Liberation Army, told a forum on Sino-US ties that Taiwan leaders' resistance to the 'one-China policy' could destabilize the region.
'The separatist attitude will pose a threat to the stability of the Asia- Pacific region,' Xiong said.
He singled out the Taiwan government's 'refusal to abandon its separatist timetable' as a key irritant in cross-strait and Sino-US relations.
