Daily Links, August 3, 2009

What's being constructed on the blogs today?
MEDIA: Japan to host Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeer, the Dalai Lama, and Lee Teng-hui in August and September. I can already hear the heads exploding in Beijing. Taiwan News demands a truth commission in martial law era murder cases. Taiwan consumer price index experiences biggest fall in almost 40 years. Commonwealth asks where Taiwan's democracy is headed. Temps hit 39.4 in Hsinchu yesterday. Penghu to have referendum on casinos. Without the slightest trace of irony, KMT Young Turks call for integrity for the party ahead of the election. AmCham says US-Taiwan economic ties are uncertain.

EVENTS: Taichung, city of culture, to hold 64 outdoor concerts over 8 weeks starting Aug 1.

I find the AM-Sham report sadly ironic in that they spent the greater part of this decade pushing for this current situation. It was always "more China, more China."What were they expecting?

That's one way to tell there's an election season ahead. Note the prize drawings, too. Interesting how and when areas run by the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) will spend those public dollars.

Yes, I feel that same way. It is said when the one enjoyment I will be able to feel in the future is watching all those foreign businessmen who for years cried and begged to have Chinese businessmen come over suddenly realize they can't compete with state-owned Chinese firms out to destroy them. But I-told-you-so is the worst kind of happiness.

lol. just in case but i do this "told you so" everyday with a dumb manager-loser, who killed the shoe-factory in my town for China and is now back living in my street. its very enjoyable when you remember all suffering our people and my wifes family had when he made them jobless. he should rot in China together with his family.
