The latest schedule is from the Kaohsiung City Government website. link. The "public speech" planned for 9/1 in Kaohsiung is no longer open to the public.

This is such a trip because many of Dalai Lama supporters in Taiwan are middle-aged women that are rabidly pro-Ma Ying-jeou. They can't help but cringe when they see pro-Blues insulting His Holiness.

Sorry for dominating the comments on this post, but I have one more update to add. The Dalai Lama's public speech will be broadcast live on PTS Channel 13 in Taiwan at 2:00pm on Tuesday 1 September.

''How Taiwan Became Chinese'' (Columbia University Press, 2008) ......

Was this a Freudian slip? MA is the GOVERNOR of the PROVINCE OF TAIWAN? Tonio, we hardly knew ye....

Tonio is NOT a Chicom sympathizer. I've already gone round with him about the unfortunate title of his otherwise excellent book. It's available for free online, just search.
