Typhoon Resources

As we wait for typhoon Sepat to make landfall here in about an hour -- here in central Taiwan the wind has already started to heave -- bent has a list of good typhoon resources:
A couple notes and links to resources about typhoons at Sepat bears down:
  • The official Taiwan weather bureau page is here
  • Lots of satellite imagery is available at Hurricane Zone
  • A huge amount of information, especially about the statistical probability of wind levels, is available at Tropical Storm Risk

Finally, the times on all these maps, including the Taiwan weather bureaus page, are UTC, which is similar to Greenwich mean time. That means you need to add 8 hours to get the local time.

Anyhow, you may know all these, but I was surprised when talking to a few long-term expats last night they were unaware of most of these.

Heh. Never heard of the Hurricane Zone. Thanks, man.
