I woke up on Sunday morning and thought for a moment I'd blundered into the ending of The Quiet Earth and had been transported to an alien planet. For there was the Sun!

Immediately I swung into action. Knowing how much you've been missing those critter pictures, I set off for the hiking paths above my house.......

Water pounded down every culvert.

It was easy to see why Taiwan was called the kingdom of the butterflies.

Ordinarily you can't even see this rivulet as it sluggishly winds through the bottom of the forest.

Not a bug....just an exoskeleton, abandoned on a leaf.

All sorts of organisms were enjoying the sun today.

A close-up of the previous shot.

A fresh group of hikers approaches the trailhead.

Lots of people out enjoying the sun today...

Alas! A bit of sun meant catching up on all the clothing that needed to be washed...

These hiking trails you regularly show, where are they and how can I find them?

I'm desperate for a walk ;)

They are in Ta-Ken Scenic Area. If you email me, I'll give you directions out here.

I think the mention of a New Zealand movie may have tricked the weather into thinking it is now different season. The rain is sadly back.

How can anyone be pro-Blue in such a lushly Green environment?

Superb photos. Chapeau!

You didn't know that? Most pan-blue flock together in Taipei and many of them NEVER visit middle/south part of Taiwan in their whole lives. They probably know more about China than about Taiwan.
