Patriotism and Protest in Hong Kong

Anyone catch this snarky little comment from Reuters, Hong Kong, in the Taipei Times today? I don't know whether the comment was originally from Reuters (the news service' own site doesn't have it) or was added by the TT, but it's quite nasty:

Pomp, protests mark handover anniversary
Hong Kong: Thousands marched to demand democracy in the territory, while others marked the anniversary of the turnover with displays of patriotism.

Read that blurb carefully: "with displays of patriotism." Does this mean that the democracy protesters were not patriotic? Or what?
